bmp AG: ergoTrade sold to the Sims Group

Berlin, 14 March 2011

bmp AG (ISIN DE0003304200) has sold its 49.99% stake in ergoTrade AG, Schwaig/Munich, as part of a 100% acquisition by Sims Group German Holdings GmbH, a subsidiary of Sims Metal Management Ltd., at a profit.

Sims Metal Management is the world's leading recycler of iron and steel scrap and its division Sims Recycling Solutions is the world's largest recycler of electrical and electronic waste. With this acquisition, Sims is expanding its activities to asset management while reinforcing its position in Germany and entering a new market with Hungary.

bmp was a lead investor that co-founded ergoTrade in October 2000, making it into one of the top IT remarketing and life cycle management services in Germany and Hungary. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price, which was paid fully in cash. The sale is subject to the approval of the German anti-trust authorities.

'We are proud to have found a strong, international partner for ergoTrade AG in the Sims Group, which will provide the company with professional expertise for its further expansion and internationalisation,' says Oliver Borrmann, CEO of bmp AG.

'With ergoTrade we are significantly reinforcing our market presence in Germany – ergoTrade is a renowned, strong partner. This brings us a major step closer to our goal of becoming the market leader in Germany for IT life cycle services. We have now created a solid foundation for our further European expansion,' says Marc Faller, Director of Business Development at Sims.
