Santos announced on 21 August 2015 that Chairman, Peter Coates would assume the role of Executive Chairman and take executive responsibility for conducting a strategic review of the company.

Santos has now entered into a letter of appointment with Mr Coates in relation to his role as Executive Chairman, effective from 24 August 2015.

While performing this role, Mr Coates will receive an additional fee of $45,000 per month, inclusive of superannuation. This amount is an extra services and special exertion fee to reflect the additional responsibilities of the role. The fees relating to Mr Coates’ additional responsibilities will not be paid out of the aggregate Director fee pool.

Mr Coates will not participate in any of Santos’ incentive plans.

Santos also advises that Mr Ken Dean will serve as Senior Independent Director while Mr Coates carries out his extra duties as Executive Chairman. Mr Dean has been an independent nonexecutive director of Santos since February 2005.
