TRADING HALT
The securities of Sandfire Resources NL (the "Company") will be placed in pre-open at the request of the Company, pending the release of an announcement by the Company. Unless ASX decides otherwise, the securities will remain in pre-open until the earlier of the commencement of normal trading on Wednesday, 7 May 2008 or when the announcement is released to the market.

REQUEST FOR TRADING HALT
Sandfire Resources NL (ASX: SFR) requests a trading halt in its securities effective prior the market opening on Monday, 5 May, pending an announcement to be released regarding a placement of securities in the Company to a significant industry participant.
The Company requests the trading halt until the announcement is released subject to the limit imposed by ASX Listing Rules.
The Company is not aware of any reason why the trading halt should not be granted.
