MDM completes purchase of another Queensland based health and lifestyle village
Sydney, Australia: 4 December 2006: Medical Monitors (ASX: MDM) has now completed the acquisition of its second health and lifestyle village, Ashmond Villas, in Coorov, Queensland, which will provide a secure net income of approximately \$275,000 in the first year, increasing with CPI.
Ashmond Villas is an over 50's environmentally friendly health and lifestyle village that provides its 56 home-owners with all the facilities for resort style living, including community center and in-ground pool. The village is situated in Cooroy, which is just 15 minutes by road from Noosa and the popular Sunshine Coast of Queensland, and is set within lush gardens, a small rain forest and natural lagoon surrounds.
As previously announced, Ashmond Villas is the second in a series of health and lifestyle villages to be acquired by Medical Monitors from Parkway Developments Australia (PDA). PDA has offered MDM an exclusive first right of refusal option on future property acquisitions.
"The Company remains focused on repositioning itself into the health and lifestyle property market targeting the growing baby boomer population," said Dr Allan Shell, Managing Director of Medical Monitors.
"We are confident that our new business strategy will continue to provide major benefits by way of secure increasing income streams and future opportunities for our shareholders," he said.
Medical Monitors' new business strategy proposes to generate secure revenue from purchasing a series of over 50's health and lifestyle properties, and from its investment in the global distribution of its medical monitoring technologies through Primedical International.
Medical Monitors intends to utilize its monitoring technologies for the over 50's population living in the Australian health and lifestyle villages. "One in three people in the over 50's market have cardiovascular conditions that make them ideal customers of the medical monitoring packages", said Dr Shell.
"The villages will provide direct access to an existing client base for medical monitoring packages that we are developing. A second generation of technologies will also have a direct channel to the international market through our established global distributor," said Dr Shell.
