PVA TePla AG: PVA TePla AG expands Plasma division

Corporate news transmitted by DGAP – a company of EquityStory AG. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. —————————————————————————— (Asslar, August 28, 2006) – The newly founded PlaTeG GmbH, Siegen, a 100% subsidiary of PVA TePla AG, Aßlar, is to acquire the business of Plasma Technik Grün GmbH, Siegen, Germany, from September 1, 2006. The profitable Siegen-based company, which employs 20 staff, is expected to generate sales of around EUR 4-5 million in the current financial year. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price of the asset deal. Plasma Technik Grün GmbH manufactures various plasma process-based systems used in the surface treatment of steel, plastic and metal materials. The specially developed PulsPlasma® technology is used to harden or finish surfaces of engine and machine parts or tools, thereby making a decisive improvement to durability and corrosion protection. Similar low-pressure plasma processes can be used to clean plastic and metal surfaces and alter these to allow the use of environmentally friendly lacquers and adhesives. The newly developed Plasma CVD processes make it possible to generate nano-layers used to protect metals from corrosion and manufacture diamond-like, hard layers, which can be used to open up new markets. Systems used in the plasma sterilization of medical components round off Plasma Technik Grün GmbH’s wide range of activities. From the perspective of the PVA TePla AG’s plasma division, this acquisition will not only generate synergy effects in the industrial/medical sector, but will also provide a sensible supplement for the existing product portfolio. The existing sales structures are also complementary and both companies now have easier access to the respective European and US markets. Plasma Technik Grün GmbH’s existing operational activities will cease with the completion of existing orders on hand during the current year. PlaTeG GmbH will process new orders with immediate effect. Current Managing Director Dr. Reinar Grün will continue to manage the company at its traditional base in Siegen.
