MD appointed as Chairman of the Australian Geothermal Energy Association

Petratherm’s Managing Director, Mr. Terry Kallis has been appointed Chairman of the Australian Geothermal Energy Association (AGEA). AGEA is the Industry Association for the Geothermal Energy Industry in Australia and was formed in November 2007 to represent the interests of the Industry, in particular, in relation to matters of government policy and regulation.

Under the leadership of the former and inaugural Chairman, Mr Gerry Grove-White (MD of Geodynamics) and CEO, Ms Susan Jeanes, AGEA has been successful in providing input on various policy reforms, including:

• $50 M Geothermal Drilling Program

• $435 M Renewable Demonstration Program

• The Geothermal Energy Industry Development Framework

• The Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme and

• The 2020 Renewable Energy Target

AGEA is now comprised of 24 members, primarily from exploration and development companies but also including a growing numbers of companies from the service industry.

The other Executive members of AGEA include:

• Dr Adrian Williams, Deputy Chairman (Geodynamics)

• Mr Alan Knights, Secretary (Green Rock Energy)

• Mr Chris Matthews, Treasurer (Torrens Energy) and

• Ms Susan Jeanes, CEO (New Energy Directions)
