NORTHERN STAR APPOINTS HIGHLY EXPERIENCED FINANCE EXECUTIVE AS CFO

Northern Star Resources Limited (ASX: NST) is pleased to advise that Shaun Day has been appointed Chief Financial Officer, effective 13 October 2014.

Mr Day has extensive experience as a finance executive in the resources industry. Most recently he was Chief Financial Officer at Sakari Resources, a top 50 Singapore stock exchange listed coal miner with revenue of US$1 billion, which was taken over by Thailand’s PTT Group for a total of US$2 billion.

Mr Day is a qualified chartered accountant who has held executive positions in a range of multinational business and investment banking roles, with particular focus on the mining sector. Roles include the Chief Financial Officer and treasury in ASX listed mining and telecommunications infrastructure companies.

Mr Day has been heavily involved in building substantial mining companies. He brings experience of debt and equity markets, mergers and acquisitions, mining operations and treasuries.

He is currently a Non-Executive Director of ASX-listed Attila Resources and is a Committee Member of the WA Chartered Accountants in Business Panel with the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Northern Star Managing Director Bill Beament said the Company was delighted to have secured someone of Mr Day’s experience.

“Shaun has the skills and experience required by a company of Northern Star’s size and ambition,” Mr Beament said.

Mr Day replaces Ray Parry, who has left the Company.

On behalf of the Board, Mr Beament thanked Mr Parry for having played a key role in Northern Star’s growth from a single-project company into the second-largest ASX-listed gold miner.
