These are some of the findings of Indian Council of Medical Research's latest report on 'antimicrobial resistance research and surveillance' conducted between January and December 2020, which underlines the growing antimicrobial resistance across India

Mutations in microbes, be they bacterium, viruses or fungi, are rendering medicines useless when the patients most need them; experts say this has been brought about by decades of overuse and misuse of antibiotics, antifungals and antivirals.

No bail for Armaan Kohli in drug case

Mumbai: A court on Saturday rejected the bail application of actor Armaan Kohli, arrested in a drug seizure case. Kohli was arrested last Sunday following a raid by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) at his residence during which banned narcotics were alleged ly seized. The actor had argued that only a small quantity of drugs was allegedly recovered, and he was entitled for bail.

But special public prosecutor Advait Sethna opposed the application, claiming that he had direct links with the two prime accused in the case from whom a `commercial quantity of contraband was recovered.

Under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, offenses involving commercial quantity' (which varies for different categories) attract higher punishment. The court rejected the bail pleas of Kohli and the two other accused arrested in the case. Kohli had featured in the Salman Khan-starter "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" among other films, and was also a contestant of TV reality show "Bigg Boss". PTI

श्री सद्गुरू बाळूमामांच्या ५५ व्या समाधी दिनानिमित्त आदमापूरच्या नागरिकांसह भक्तगण शनिवारी एकवटून बाळूमामाच्या नावाचा वापर करून मोठा झालेल्या मनोहर भोसले याच्या विरोधात दंड थोपटले आहेत. बाळूमामांच्या कण्या, ताक, अमृत, प्रसाद घेऊन भोसलेसह सर्वच भोंदबाबांचा धिक्कार व निषेध करण्यात आला. बाळूमामांचा भंडारा देऊन अंधश्रद्धा वाढीस लावणाऱ्या भोंदुबाबापासून सावध राहावे. गैरमार्गाचा वापर करून बाळमामांच्या नावाने कोणीही देणगी मागत असेल, तर त्यांना सहकार्य न करता नजीकच्या पोलिस ठाण्यात अशा भोंदूची तक्रार करा, असेही आवाहन करण्यात आले.

बाळूमामांच्या ५ सप्टेंबर या समाधी दिनानिमित्त आदमापूर येथील मरगुबाई मंदिर परिसरात सभा घेण्यात आली. अध्यक्षस्थानी देवालय समितीचे अध्यक्ष धैर्यशील भोसले होते. यावेळी बाळुमामा देवालय समितीचे कार्याध्यक्ष रामभाऊ मगदूम, माजी सरपंच दत्तात्रय पाटील, दिनकरराव कांबळे, एम. डी. पाटील अँड राजेंद्र देशमुख, संतोष देवकर यांची प्रमुख उपस्थिती होती.

कोल्हाप् : जिल्ह्यात सुरू असलेल्या कोरोना प्रतिबंधक लसीकरण मोहिमेमध्ये शनिवारी एका दिवसात जिल्ह्यातील ५४ हजार नागरिकांना लस देण्यात आली. आरोग्य विभागाने लसीकरणाचा दिवसाला ५० हजारांचा टप्पा दुसऱ्यांदा गाठला आहे.

डॉक्टरांनी दिरंगाई केल्याचा नातेवाईकांचा आरोप

कोल्हापूर : पुढारी वृत्तसेवा सीपीआरमध्ये नॉनकोरोना वॉर्डात उपचार सुरू असताना शनिवारी २३ वर्षांच्या तरुणाचा मृत्यू झाला. डॉक्टरांनी उपचारास दिरंगाई केल्याचा आरोप नातेवाईकांनी केला. संबंधित डॉक्टरांवर गुन्हा दाखल करून निलंबन करा, अशी मागणी करत जमावाने अधिष्ठाता कार्यालयास घेराव घातला. संबंधितावर कारवाई होत नाही, तोपर्यंत ठिय्या मागे घेणार नसल्याचा पवित्रा घेतल्याने वातावरण तणावपूर्ण बनले. घटनेची चौकशी करून संबंधितांवर कारवाई करण्याचे लेखी आश्वासन प्रभारी अधिष्ठाता डॉ. अजित लोकरे यांनी दिल्यानंतर वातावरण निवळले.

सेंट्रल लाईनद्वारे औषधोपचार देण्याचा निर्णय घेतला. उपचार सुरू असताना त्याचा मृत्यू झाला. डॉक्टरांनी चुकीच्या पद्धतीने उपचार केल्याने रुग्णाचा मृत्यू झाल्याचा आरोप आरपीआयच्या कार्यकर्त्यांनी करत प्रशासनाला जाब विचारला. लक्ष्मीपुरी पोलिस ठाण्याचे निरीक्षक अनिल गुजर यांनी तत्काळ घटनास्थळी येऊन जमावाला पांगविले यावेळी आरपीआयचे जिल्हाध्यक्ष उत्तम कांबळे, दत्ता मिसाळ, वैद्यकीय अधिक्षक विजय बरगे, डॉ. अनिता परितेकर, डॉ. गिरीष कांबळे आदी
