Macquarie Telecom Announces Earnings Guidance Upgrade for 2010 Full-Year Results

Australian carrier Macquarie Telecom (ASX: MAQ) today announced upgraded earnings guidance for the full year ended 30 June 2010.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) from continuing operations for the full year is expected to be between $28 million and $29 million, an increase of approximately 22 per cent on the previous corresponding period.

In addition, Macquarie Telecom announced that it maintains a strong balance sheet with cash and cash equivalents of $56.3 million as at 30 June 2010.

Macquarie Telecom’s Hosting business has continued to perform strongly and is a key driver of the strong result. Macquarie Telecom’s revenue mix also continues to improve, with its higher margin Hosting business generating increased contributions.

Chief Executive David Tudehope said: “This result supports the strategic direction we have taken as we build momentum in our higher margin Hosting business. Over the next fiscal year we intend to invest approximately an additional $15 million over our current capital expenditure run rate to expand our Hosting capacity to support growth in this business.”

It should be noted that these results are preliminary in nature and subject to final review by the company and its external auditors.

Macquarie Telecom will release its results for the year ended 30 June 2010 on 26 August 2010.
