Report for the 3rd quarter of 2003 – KRONES progresses its growth strategy Ad-hoc-announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Despite a continuingly sluggish macro-economic environment, stagnating markets and increasing pressure on prices, the KRONES Group has been able to progress its growth strategy. The world’s market leader for beverage bottling lines and packaging machinery, headquartered in Neutraubling, Bavaria, has managed for what is meanwhile the fourth time in succession to outperform the preceding year’s equivalent figures in terms of sales, order bookings and profits. The demand for KRONES’ machines, systems and services has been higher than ever. Order bookings in the first nine months of the current business year were up by 4.1 %, to reach a new high of 1,072.5 m euros. In the same period, sales rose by 8.5 %, to a new record figure of 1,064.7 m euros. Following the overproportionally high growth of previous years, the KRONES Group’s profits, with a plus of 4.8 %, no longer developed so vigorously. Nonetheless, earnings after taxes set another new record at 45.9 m euros. Extrapolating from the figures for the year’s first three quarters, KRONES’ sales are expected to total around 1.45 bn euros by the end of 2003. This corresponds to an increase of more than 10 % on a like-for-like basis. Profits for the year after taxes are set to top 60 m euros for the first time.
