HELMA Eigenheimbau AG reports significant revenue and earnings growth in
the first half of 2011

Lehrte, September 28, 2011 - HELMA Eigenheimbau AG, the specialist for
individual solid construction houses and sustainable energy concepts, has
today published its consolidated results for the first six months of the
2011 financial year. Revenue rose from EUR 29.2 million in the previous
year to EUR 43.4 million. Due to land acquisitions, the changes in stocks
of finished goods and work in progress were also up by EUR 1.5 million
year-on-year to reach EUR 5.2 million, as a consequence of which the total
output of the HELMA Group increased to EUR 48.6 million in the first half
of 2011 (H1 2010: EUR 33.0 million). On the basis of this significant
growth in total output, the first-half earnings before interest and taxes
was improved from EUR -0.34 million to EUR 0.82 million. It should be noted
in this context that the first half of the year is typically subject to
significantly greater weather-related restrictions to construction activity
than the second half of the year. Due to the continued high level of the
order book, which results from a tangible increase of 9% in the net order
inflow in the first six months of the current financial year to reach EUR
53.7 million, the significantly stronger second half of the year in terms
of revenue and earnings (as in previous years) has yet to come.
SUCCESSFUL IMPLEMENTATION OF STRATEGIC EXPANSION OF PROJECT BUSINESS:
The revenue shares of the individual Group companies developed in line with
our plans. For instance, the classic building services business remains the
main pillar of revenue with around three quarters of total revenue,
although the share of the high-margin project business has already been
expanded to around 25% (H1 2010: 12.9%). The project business, where HELMA
offers its customers an attractive plot of land together with an individual
solid-construction house as a total package is currently our strongest
growth-driver, as expected. Extensive land purchases in the first half of
the year have also allowed the company to create the basis for significant
growth in this area over the coming years. The financial preconditions for
this growth have also been successfully realised in recent months with the
complete placing of the HELMA bond, and the ten percent capital increase.
In addition, recently formed HELMA Group subsidiaries have performed very
well in the first half of the year. For example, HELMA has rapidly
integrated Hausbau Finanz GmbH into the HELMA Group. This company was
acquired in the second half of 2010, and acts as a financing broker.
Already around 35% of all HELMA customers are concluding their house
financing through this financing subsidiary of HELMA Eigenheimbau AG, as a
consequence of which this subsidiary is profitable from the start, and also
optimally rounds out the portfolio of services provided by the HELMA Group.
HELMA Ferienimmobilien GmbH, which was founded at the start of this
financial year, has already been positioned promisingly, and its first
holiday project has been started successfully at Glowe on the island of
Rügen. As a consequence, HELMA can easily achieve its forecast of
generating revenue of more than EUR 10 million in the holiday real estate
area from as early as the 2012 financial year, since further projects are
already in the specific planning stage.
POSITIVE OUTLOOK:
The revenue forecast for the HELMA Group that was published in March 2011
was confirmed given the satisfactory order book position as of the mid-year
stage, the current progress that the company is making in processing
orders, and the expectation of a significantly stronger second half to the
year compared with the first half, as has been experienced in previous
years. Assuming that there are no significant early restrictions on
building activity due to weather conditions towards the end of the year,
HELMA continues to anticipate significant revenue growth from EUR 74.5
million to around EUR 100 million for the 2011 financial year. Presupposing
stable gross margins, this would imply a significant profitability
enhancement given a further fall in cost ratios, and growth in consolidated
EBIT from EUR 2.7 million to around EUR 5.0 million.
