Management Board revises its forecast for 2007; project initiated to

Isernhagen, September 26, 2007 – In the first half-year of 2007, HELMA
Eigenheimbau AG made headway in pursuing its growth strategy and held its
ground well despite the sectoral trend in a difficult market environment.
The construction of more show houses raised awareness of the company's
presence in existing and new sales regions, thereby creating attractive
future sales potential.
Market share raised:
HELMA Eigenheimbau AG’s order intake came to EUR 35.5 million in the first
six months of the current financial year, which was 12.3 % higher than the
previous year's figure. HELMA has thereby captured new market share by
comparison with its competitors recording significant declines in new
orders over the period under review. According to the Federal Statistical
Office, the number of building permits for one and two-family houses in
Germany fell 47.3 % in the first six months of 2007.
Sales revenue and profit targets not achieved:
Pursuant to the accounting standards laid down under the German Civil Code
(HGB), HELMA Eigenheimbau AG’s sales revenues stood at EUR 9.31 million by
mid-year 2007 (first half of 2006: EUR 6.79 million). Total performance
came in at EUR 17.30 million (first half of 2006: EUR 18.87 million). The
cause of the company’s failure to raise total performance was attributable
in main not only to the difficult market environment but also to the fact
that the company was unable to substantially shorten order processing
times, which would have enabled it to invoice more sales with the resulting
impact on sales revenue and profit. Lower total performance and a marginal
increase in the ratio of materials used resulted in lower gross profit
which fell by 15 % in a year-on-year comparison. Furthermore,
restructuring measures to support the growth of the company and the
development of new sales regions required a greater outlay than originally
expected, which had a negative impact on margins and profit. This caused
operating costs to rise to EUR 6.33 million (first half of 2006: EUR 4.92
million) over the period from January 1 to June 30, 2007. All in all, EBIT
came to EUR -2.97 million (first half of 2006: EUR -0.96 million).
Forecast for 2007 revised:
Based on the insights from the first half-year figures and the fact that
the declared goal of shortening order processing times had not yet been
achieved, the Management Board of HELMA Eigenheimbau AG substantially
revised the forecast for 2007 as a whole. Accordingly, the Group is now
expected to achieve a total output of around EUR 60 million and an EBIT of
EUR -1.0 million according to IFRS.
Owing to recent events, the Management Board of HELMA Eigenheimbau AG has
initiated a project to sustainably raise performance and profitability
which is already in the process of being implemented. The Management Board
will present the project in the months ahead as part of an international
road show.
The Management Board considers the outlook for the financial year 2008 to
be positive. Based on the increase in new orders and impulses generated by
the successful implementation of the project components, sales revenue in
the double-digit growth range have been forecast for 2008, and EBIT is
expected to improve considerably. The Board will give more specific details
on this forecast at the start of 2008.
