PRESS RELEASE

Leidschendam, the Netherlands, 16 January 2009

New contracts for Fugro

Contract for service and maintenance of oceanographic network along the Spanish coastline

The Spanish harbour authority, Puertos del Estado, has awarded Fugro a two year service and maintenance contract for an existing ocean buoy network along the Spanish coast line. The contract value is EUR 3.9 million, with an option to extend the contract for an additional four years, in which case, the total value could reach over EUR 12 million.

The Puertos del Estado Deep Water Network is designed to measure marine climatic parameters and was set up in 1996 in a supply and maintenance contract between Puertos del Estado and Fugro. The system currently consists of 23 operating buoys and three current meter strings in 15 positions all stretching along the entire coastline of Spain. Staff of the Fugro office in Madrid will operate the system.

Fugro has in the past also delivered several buoys to the Centro Oceanográfico de Santander (IEO); AZTI-Tecnalia and the Instituto Canario de Ciencias Marinas (ICCM) and will, through these contracts, strengthen its position in the Spanish market.

Contract to perform GeoSAR mapping in South America

Fugro has been awarded two contracts for high accuracy elevation mapping over parts of South America. With a combined value of USD 13 million, the contracts will be completed using Fugro EarthData's exclusive GeoSAR airborne radar mapping system and are funded by the U.S. government.

The new awards continue Fugro's prior work in the region. Since 2002, the company has mapped over 700,000 square kilometres worldwide using GeoSAR. Final deliverables are scheduled for July and October and will be used to update existing topographic maps in support of regional land management activities. As with previous contracts, Fugro is coordinating with South American government agencies to complete the mapping projects.
