Frontier Developments plc

Announces First Paid Season of Major Expansions for Holiday 2015 - ELITE DANGEROUS: HORIZONS and opens pre-orders.

Frontier Developments plc (AIM: FDEV) today announces Elite Dangerous: Horizons, another season of major gameplay expansions for the award-winning Elite: Dangerous on PC, and opens pre-order sales during the Gamescom tradeshow in Koln, Germany.

Elite Dangerous: Horizons will launch this Holiday (Q4 2015), with a retail price of £39.99 (€49.99, $59.99) for PC, beginning with 'Planetary Landings' - the ability to land and drive around on the surface of airless planets and moons. Existing Elite: Dangerous players will receive a £10 (€12.5, $15) discount before launch.

The first season has included the Elite: Dangerous game and the 'Community Goals', 'Wings' and 'Powerplay' expansions, with two further expansions to come this year. The second season of expansions will continue into 2016, further enriching the Elite: Dangerous experience with new activities, new areas to play in and explore and new ways to play.

This announcement makes clear Frontier's plans for continued monetization of the Elite: Dangerous franchise. Additional paid for seasons will be released over the coming years as we continue to deepen our community of players, broaden the appeal and provide new exciting game play.

All Elite: Dangerous players will fly together in the same galaxy, with Elite Dangerous: Horizons players able to also explore the surfaces of planets. Existing Elite: Dangerous players who purchase Elite Dangerous: Horizons will retain their progress, and all Elite: Dangerous players will to benefit as the game evolves alongside Elite Dangerous: Horizons.

"Elite Dangerous: Horizons now makes clear how we plan to monetize Elite: Dangerous going forwards. This novel approach keeps the community together and avoids 'pay to win' pitfalls common in other games," Frontier Chief Executive Officer David Braben said "We expect that this long term plan will help continue to build the Elite: Dangerous community and as a result shareholder returns."
