Press Release, July 8, 2008 Monthly traffic performance data – June 2008
Finnair's load factors down
Disproportion between Finnair's capacity and demand have further weakened passenger load factors in June.
Finnair traffic increased by 5.3% in June, while the capacity was up by 10.4%, resulting in a passenger load factor of 73.4% or 3.6 points lower than last year. Finnair transported altogether 730 884 passengers, which is 1.1% less than a year ago.
Scheduled traffic increased by 4.4% compared to June last year. Number of passengers carried on scheduled flights was 599 838, which is 2.5% less than in June 2007. Passenger load factor in scheduled passenger traffic was 70.7%, down 5.1 percentage points. Schedule arrangements and capacity cuts in long-haul traffic will be made to improve load factors. The changes will come into effect from the start of the winter schedule.
Scheduled traffic unit revenues, based on revenue passenger kilometers, increased 1.2% in second quarter. In January–June unit revenues were lower than previous year and decreased 0.9%.

In June 2007 Finnair sold its Stockholm-based subsidiary airline FlyNordic and its traffic performance is no longer reported as part of Finnair Group statistics. For better comparison, equivalent figures for last year have been adjusted accordingly.
Arrival punctuality of Finnair flights was 81.1%, which was 1.5 points higher than last year. Arrival punctuality of scheduled flights was 82.3%, 0.5 points higher than last year.
