Item 8.01 Other Events.

Corning Incorporated (the "Company") was informed of the death of Mr. Eugene C. Sit, a director of the Company, who passed away on June 24, 2008. At the time of his death, Mr. Sit was a member of the Audit Committee and Finance Committee of the Company’s Board of Directors, and had served as a director of the Company since 2004. Mr. Sit was 69 years old.
