Appointment of Smt. Rajashree Birla as Chairperson of the Company

The Board of Directors of the company at its meeting noted with profound sorrow the sad demise of its respected Chairman Shri B.K. Birla on 3rd July, 2019. Shri B.K. Birla was an eminent industrialist, a passionate philanthropist and an avid educationist. The Board recalled his legendary stewardship over several decades and applauded his stellar contribution to the growth of the company.

Shri B.K.Birla was the key architect in conceiving the Nylon Yarn Project in 1965 with foreign collaborators and in forming Century Enka Limited. He has been on the board of the company since inception in 1965 and has spearheaded the company's growth strategy spanning more than five decades.

Beyond business, his legacy extends to the fields of education, art and culture. In his sad demise, our company has lost a great visionary and our country has lost not just a ti: 1 business leader, but also a great philanthropist.

The members of the Board elected Smt. Rajashree Birla as the Chairperson of the Company with immediate effect (i.e. 20.07.2019).

Smt. Rajashree Birla said, "I am indeed honoured and privileged to be named Chairperson of a company that has been led by an iconic leader like Shri B.K.Birla. He has been a guide and a mentor for me and I look forward to carrying forth his legacy and help create value for all stakeholders."

Smt. Rajashree Birla serves on the boards of several bluechip companies in India and overseas like Grasim, Hindalco and UltraTech. Furthermore, she is the Chairperson of the Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development, the apex body responsible for development projects.
