THE MAC NOMINATED PREFERRED TENDERER FOR BHPB’S ROXBY DOWNS

  • The MAC’s pipeline of development opportunities remains strong with The MAC selected as preferred tenderer for the development and operation of a new accommodation village at Roxby Downs in South Australia for BHP Billiton’s existing operations at Olympic Dam

The MAC has been selected as the preferred tenderer for the development and operation of a new accommodation village at Roxby Downs in South Australia to service BHP Billiton’s existing operations at Olympic Dam.

The proposed development at Roxby Downs, which remains subject to a number of approvals and the execution of binding documentation, will initially comprise 500 rooms as well as associated dining, recreation and administration facilities.

Commencement of construction of the village should take place in the second half of FY2009, however meaningful contribution to revenue from the facility should flow from FY2010.

Further details in relation to the proposed development at Roxby Downs will be provided following the execution of binding documentation.

The buildings for the Roxby Downs facility will be serviced out of our Adelaide manufacturing premises which is meeting management expectations in terms of production capacity and quality assurance.

This development can be funded out of existing debt facilities and ongoing cash flows.

The MAC is also in advanced negotiations regarding a new development at its Karratha Gap Ridge site in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, albeit that progress has taken longer than expected.
