Competition Commission Provisional Clearance

Into A.G. BARR / Britvic Merger Inquiry

A.G. BARR p.l.c., the soft drinks group, welcomes today's publication by the Competition Commission of its provisional decision to clear the merger of A.G. BARR p.l.c. and Britvic plc.  The Competition Commission has fully reviewed the context of the potential transaction and provisionally concluded that it does not expect it to result in a substantial lessening of competition .

The Competition Commission is expected to publish its final report by 30 July 2013, the statutory deadline for completion of its inquiry.

The Board of A.G. BARR believes this is a significant positive step and in light of this will continue to work closely with the Competition Commission throughout the remainder of the inquiry with a view to reconsidering a merger (although pursuant to the Takeover Code no new merger may be formally announced until the Competition Commission has published its final report).
