Axfood Närlivs AB acquires 50% stake in Hall Miba AB

Axfood Närlivs AB will acquire 50% of the shares in the wholesale company Hall Miba AB, in Alvesta. Hall Miba provides car care products and automotive accessories to service stations and retailers in the Nordic countries.

"This acquisition will enable Axfood Närlivs to further raise the quality of its service offering to all of its customers," comments Nicholas Pettersson, President of Axfood Närlivs AB. "We will also be a comprehensive business partner to the service station chains through our ability to offer food retail products, ready-made meals and automotive consumer products to their stores."

In connection with the acquisition, Axfood Närlivs will be moving its inventory of automotive products from Örebro to Alvesta.

Completion of the deal is contingent upon approval from the Competition Authority.

Axfood AB conducts food retail and wholesale business in Sweden. Retail business is conducted through the wholly owned store chains Willys, Hemköp and PrisXtra, comprising 232 stores in all. In addition, Axfood collaborates with a large number of proprietor-run stores that are tied to Axfood through agreements. These include stores within the Hemköp and Willys chains as well as stores run under the Handlar'n and Tempo profiles. In all, Axfood collaborates with approximately 840 proprietor-run stores. Wholesaling is conducted through Dagab and Axfood Närlivs. Axfood is listed on Nasdaq OMX Stockholm AB's Large Cap list. Axel Johnson AB is the principal owner, with approximately 46% of the shares.
