New Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Aurubis AG

Hamburg, 30 August 2011 - At its meeting today, Aurubis AG's Supervisory
Board unanimously elected Prof. Dr Heinz Jörg Fuhrmann, Chairman of
Salzgitter AG, as Chairman of the Supervisory Board effective 1 October
2011. Prior to this Dr Ernst Wortberg, who has been on Aurubis' Supervisory
Board for eleven years, stepped down from his position as Chairman, which
he had held for ten years, as of 30 September 2011. Dr Wortberg will
continue to work actively on the Supervisory Board and in its committees.
