Item 5.02. Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

On November 20, 2017, Atlantic American Corporation (the “Company”) announced that it has appointed J. Ross Franklin as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (principal financial and accounting officer) and Corporate Secretary of the Company. Mr. Franklin, age 39, has been employed by the Company and its subsidiaries in various roles since 2000, including as Vice President, Accounting and Treasurer of the Company’s Bankers Fidelity Life Insurance Company subsidiary, since 2009, and as Interim Chief Financial Officer since August 1, 2017. Mr. Franklin earned both a Master of Professional Accounting and Master in Business Administration degrees from Georgia State University, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
