APPOINTMENT OF MICHAEL IHLEIN AND GARY SMITH TO THE AMPOL BOARD

Ampol Limited (ASX: ALD) ( Ampol ) today announces that Mr Michael Ihlein and Mr Gary Smith will join the Ampol Board as Independent Non-Executive Directors, effective 1 June 2020.

Ampol’s Chairman, Steven Gregg, said: “We welcome Mike and Gary to the Ampol Board. We look forward to the experience they bring and the contributions they will both make to the execution of our strategy.”

Michael Ihlein

Prior to his career as a non-executive director, Mike was Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Brambles Limited from July 2007 until his retirement in November 2009, having started as Chief Financial Officer in 2004. Mike had a long career with Coca-Cola Amatil Limited (and related companies) where he was Managing Director, Poland from 1995 to 1997 and Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director for the period 1997 to 2004. Prior to this he held a number of senior operational, finance and treasury roles.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (Accounting) from the University of Technology, Sydney. He is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, CPA Australia and the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.

Mike is currently a director of Scentre Group, CSR Limited, Inghams Group Limited and the not-for-profit mentoring organisation Kilfinan Australia Ltd.

Gary Smith

Gary brings substantial oil industry experience with a career in oil and gas which spans 40 years, including 20 years with Shell in various roles including Refinery Manager, Clyde Refinery, Sydney from 1997 to 2002 and General Manager of LNG shipping, London from 2002 to 2005. Between 2002 and 2005 Gary also served as President and Director of SIGTTO (Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators) before being appointed as CEO of Golar LNG (NASDAQ GLNG) from 2006 to 2009.

Gary joined Ampol (formerly Caltex Australia Limited) in 2009 and held the position of General Manager Refining, Supply and Distribution until 2014 before re-joining Golar as CEO in February 2015. Gary joined Poten & Partners as Manager, Commercial LNG in 2016.

Gary holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) and Master of Science (Chemical Engineering and Chemical Technology) from the University of New South Wales.
