AMP Dividend Reinvestment Plan to be underwritten

AMP today announced that the level of Dividend Reinvestment Plan participation from shareholders in the interim dividend for the half year ended 30 June 2009 is approximately 40 per cent.

It is intended that AMP’s Dividend Reinvestment Plan for the interim dividend is underwritten to around 75 per cent, as previously flagged on 20 August 2009.

AMP has entered into an underwriting agreement with UBS AG, Australia Branch (UBS). Under this agreement AMP will issue to UBS 16 million AMP ordinary shares at a price equal to the average of the daily volume weighted average sale price of AMP ordinary shares sold on the ASX in the ordinary course of trading over the 19 trading days from 16 September 2009 to 12 October 2009. This share issue plus the shares issued to shareholders who have elected to participate in the Dividend Reinvestment Plan is expected to equal approximately 75 per cent of the interim dividend.

Shareholders who have elected to participate in the Dividend Reinvestment Plan will receive a 2.5 per cent discount to the average of the daily volume weighted average sale price over this same period.

The payment date for AMP’s interim 2009 dividend is 16 October 2009.
