Description
United States 12 Month Natural Gas Fund, LP (UNL) is an exchange-traded security designed to track the daily price movements of natural gas. The fund's investment objective is for the daily percentage changes of its net asset value (NAV) to reflect the daily changes in the price of natural gas delivered at the Henry Hub, Louisiana. UNL achieves this by investing primarily in a portfolio of NYMEX-traded natural gas futures contracts. Its benchmark comprises the near-month contract and the following 11 consecutive months' contracts, with each month being equally weighted. This strategy of averaging across a 12-month strip of futures aims to mitigate certain effects of market structure on returns. The fund's investments are collateralized by cash, cash equivalents, and short-term U.S. government obligations.
