Barings Global Short Duration High Yield Fund is a closed-end fixed income fund. Its primary investment objective is to generate a high level of current income consistent with capital preservation, with capital appreciation as a secondary objective. The fund invests in a global portfolio of short-duration, high-yield bonds, loans, and other income-producing instruments, which are typically rated below investment grade or are unrated. It maintains a weighted average portfolio duration of three years or less and a weighted average portfolio maturity of five years or less. The strategy utilizes fundamental credit analysis to identify relative-value opportunities, primarily between North American and Western European high-yield markets. It also seeks to capitalize on pricing differences between substantially similar bonds from the same issuer denominated in different currencies, such as U.S. dollars and euros.
